i finally decided to burn the files to a CD and boot from a usb cdrw drive. What would be the right arguments that i should set in boote17 to be able to boot and run it from the cdrom ?

boot e17ka console=tty1,115200 init=/linuxrc looptype=squashfs loop=/e17ka.img udev nodevfs root=/dev/ram console=tty0 cdroot=/dev/??? e17kahd=??? saveonexit video=radeonfb:1280x1024-32 quiet splash=verbose,theme:e17ka

Haven't tested with cdrom, but
simply leave "cdroot" standalone
& "efikahd=hdb" might work
good luck

Thanks to Frostworks help I got it up and running. We hopefully get an OpenFirmware that supports asfs with 1024 bytes per block. Currently booting from external harddrive, because my boot partition on internal drive is way to small.

E17 is running great! Thanks for the stuff man! ;)

mp3 played nicely, but playing a movie is resulting in a slide show. Same video with MorphOS runs smoothly and perfect in full screen and window mode, so the hardware is able to do better! ;)

Hi frostwork,

Although I have an internal hd installed, the boot command

boot hd0:0 /BootE17

did not work for me.

The menu comes up and I choose "1", then I get a TFTP error.

TFTP Error 2: You are not unlocked for reading.
error: Network protocol error.

My USB stick is recognized under hd0 alias and as you mentioned, it should be sdb1, so I did not change the BootE17 file at all.

as of tftp-error i guess your default boot device
is set to net-boot?
If so you also have to edit BootE17 to
boot the kernel e17ka from hd0:0, else it won't be found
and your machine tries to get the kernel from your network
