Ok thanks for that clarification. It leaves a lot more possibility for the developers having to use their own power regulation circuitry. ie can use a battery pack to power it with no modification.

Has the FPGA/GFX inclusion been decided on yet?

Good work Genesi! (for providing a launch pad to PPC development, otherwise many developers wouldn't even think about it)

Not yet!

We will call the shot Monday. Still need one more bit of information.

No worries. Great news to hear if the GFX/FPGA is included.

Hello!

We will provide two packages - one without the FPGA and one with. There will be two variations to the one with the FPGA - one will have a PCI slot and one will not. The one that does not will have the chip equivalent on board.

As you might guess, this approach will require effort and coordination. Thus, no boards will be shipped until after 15 May.

One additional note: those needing graphics support for their target development will be supported by 2D and 3D binaries that will be tuned and supported by the graphics card/chip provider. We are seeking further sponsorship for this added benefit so that the Developer package includes a free graphics card too (when desired). Some Developers will receive complete systems built on the EFIKA. You post on the Project page is important. There are Corporate Sponsors reviewing the posts now. Those that are professionally presented can expect to gain more interest and support. For example, a complete system, a monthly stipend, a success fee, etc.

We will be communicating the details by email shortly to all concerned.

R&B :D

Hmm, did I get this correctly, there will be:

One version *with* FPGA, plus a GFX chip *on board* but no PCI slot

One version *with* FPGA, *no* on board graphics chip but with a PCI slot instead (option of adding an officially supported XGI graphics card, maybe even sponsored)

One version *without* the FPGA and GFX altogether (similar to the first, original design?), or will the one without FPGA still have an onboard GFX chip?

Hmm, OK, just to be sure - The one *without* FPGA will essentially be the same design as the first announced and seen in the video, no FPGA, no GFX on board?

:-)

Hi, here are a few questions :
- is "GFX chip on board" a XGI chip too ?
- What are the official names of those boards versions (for the Efika book) ? (EFIKA III, II & I ?)
- Can you confirm that the "original version" will not be shipped to any developers (means it's alpha) ?

Well, nice to join you all.

And here are my questions:

1) How many graphic ram with on board XGI chip? 32, 64 or 128 MB?

2 How much onboard memory?

3) Estimated price for any model of Efika2?

4) Model of FGPA chip from Altera?

Thanks in anticipation.

(I must spread correct infos in hardware forums here in Italy, or professional users will kill me or else they could pass away from Efika news considering it just rumors!)

Will the on-board video support TV-out (S-Video or Composite)?

It supports one more standard.

Take a look at page one of this thread.

It was written plain that the 7pins SVideo port, should be, depending by software choice switch, either Component, Videocomposite or SVideo.
