Project Proposal
The project has two main objectives:
- Use GNU Octave as calculation platform for real time control applications, using swarm intelligence techniques that require high computation power, in complex systems with multiple inputs and outputs and up two fourth order non linearities. The controlled system will be an update of the MuTEP platform (Presented in the IEEE article Implementation of a Distributed Control Experimentation Platform), that uses USB communication with the master computer.
- Use the system to integrate as a web server for computation as the \"MATLAB web server\" acts, using GNU Octave.

Secondary objectives include:
- Examinate the posibility of integrate this server with the cluster that is being designed in the Universidad del Valle (Cali, Colombia), used for high load computation (If the cluster allows the use of Octave, and other technical and administrative considerations).
- Test Ubuntu for PPC and help to find and fix bugs. Also aid to the PPC64 implementation as test and build machine.
- Use it as test machine for other OS systems developed for PPC, like Haiku.
- Expand the knowledge of the Colombian Academic Community about PPC Systems.

Since I've not seen any more news about this system, well, I've been working in MATLAB to get the code done...
So far I've managed to get a evolutive swarm intelligence algorithm with self adaptation mechanisms. While it doesn't allways keeps its stability, It manages to obtain good results in most of the runs. I've designed the controllers and so far, they seem to work ok with simulations. No test has been made with the platform, and I hope this semester I get this done.
I think I'll wait until the EFIKA2 project comes out, so I might try to get my hands in one... I have a project that involves thin clients and education...
  So far no news...

I wonder what has happened to this system. It seems that it has been delayed without deadline. I supouse that the eyes are put now in the EFIKA. I wonder if I could get my hands in one.
