Last special activities involving Freescale's Open Desktop Workstation:


Review of the machine (German), compatibility testing, LMbench comparison with different PPC and non-PPC machines (internal).

Evaluation of MorphOS, a light-weight OS exclusively available for the Pegasos II / ODW, as a 3D accelerated games platform.
Part I, Part II

Demonstration of the ODW with Linux and MorphOS as one of two Pegasos II based systems at MeKa Karlsruhe, 13-15 Jan 2006.
Hands-on experience of the "cool & silent" PPC advantage with live-readings of ODW power consumption
(about 50W under load - to be confirmed in further tests).
Dialogue about specific customer requirements and possible improvements.

Introduction and profile of IBM's new PPC 970MP, the most powerful 64Bit member of the PowerPC family
in anticipation of a more widespread adoption and Genesi's implementation into the Open Server Workstation.
An earlier poll hinted at the feasibility of third party designs with standard parts and the GNU/Linux OS.
