Pegasos ODW Project
Grid enabled Pegasosin category Applications & Software

In the parallel programming society the codeword for future (and it\'s not a very distant future) is The Grid. Grid means a geographically distributed resource, e.g. computing resources, storage elements, input/output devices (space telescope or a cyclotron may be considered an input device from the grid point of view, as well as an internet camera used for some statistical data gathering). There are many European projects devoted to creation of a grid infrastructure, unification of existing tools and creation of means for efficient grid
utilization. Our Institute participates in one of those projects: GridLab (http://www.gridlab.org). We are part of the testbed for the new services and develop an adaptor (extension module) for the Grid Application Toolkit which aims to offer an unified Grid API for the developers. The testbed currently suffers from excessive homogenity - most of available machines are x86 based Linux nodes which makes the developed solutions possibly unportable to different architectures.
Adding a Pegasos based machine to the testbed would be very useful and will allow developers from many countries to access and test it and confirm their software portability and performance on a PPC based architecture.
