Project Proposal
I work on a network simulator (the ability to run parallel simulations on large clusters is being added to it) in an academic setting. Some of my user\'s clusters\' are ppc-based and they keep on bugging me to make my code work for them. There are two big areas which need porting effort:
- the thread model: to be able to run threaded applications in our simulator, we have a user-space thread library which needs some asm magic for each os/hardware platform.
- random bits and pieces of code: various versions of gcc on various architectures always trigger new interesting bugs. This sort of problem needs to be caught regularly so we need to be able to build and fix the code on the target platforms regularly.
