Efika 5121E (CANCELED) Project
Hard Real Time with the MPC5121Ein category Industrial
proposed by jobe on 16th April 2008Project Proposal
Abstract: The goal of this project is to evaluate the performance of the MPC5121E and of e300 core for hard real time industrial applications.
Description: Xenomai is a nano-kernel which works in combination with Linux to offe hard real time functionalities. ADEOS is used for sharing the hardware between these two kernels and for communicating between real time context and non real time context. With this architecture it is possible to provide mixed time domain applications.
The goal of this project is to port and install an Linux/Xenomai architecture onto the 5121EFIKA board to evaluate the performances for industrial applications. This evaluation includes measuring the interrupt latencies and task switching latencies and developping a real industrial demo application with RTDM (Real Time Driver Model).
If the performances are not good, an analysis will be made to try to understand why and how the performances on the e300 architecture will be enhanced.
Finally, a small comparison with previous result on ARM9/Xscale architecture will be also e made.
Author: The author is a young engineer in electronics specialising in embedded computing dedicated to industrial, real time applications.
