Project Summary
I have many ideas for projects based on the Efika. What ideas that may be possible to realize depends on the Efika\'s performance, its connectivity options, and also availability of Operating Systems and especially MorphOS. Here are three ideas I posted in the Power.org forum:
- Making a case like this for the Efika (with PCI/AGP tilted to horizontal position obviously) would
1) make it a handy Efika development system
2) make a low footprint thin client
3) be a different approach to this and this (the $100 computers)
- Efika + MorphOS + Hollywood = A ground for a business in this industry. All components exists already, even though MorphOS might need some adapting work applied to it before one press the \"play\" button ...
- I have many ideas around Internet telephony. I am thinking of a device that would be a completely stand-alone product, no need to connect it to a computer at all, since that is already inside it. It could look like a regular phone, and be operated in a similar way. With small modifications/additions it could contain a regular phone line connector besides the network connector. It would have speaker functionality, regular telephone handle, and optionally a bluetooth headset/cordless phone device. It would be coupled with a network service similar to ICQ/MSN that will keep track of things. Basing it on a computer with Internet connection makes it possible to add a lot of creative services and functionality, in order to make it so much more than a regular telephone. The 5200 will be a great foundation to base such a device upon. Development should first be around streamlining an OS (MorphOS would be great, since it\'s so lean already and offer great power through its simplicity), finding/creating the application part, and also creating the backbone network server applications that will enable such service.
The first step for any of these ideas would be to evaluate the real life possibilities of the Efika, like its Performance, its connectivity options (see also my post about this on the Power.org forum, starting at page 7), and of course also the MorphOS support and performance on this hardware. Any decisions on further development is then made based on the conclusions from that evaluation.Project Blog Entries

Obviously, my projects would benefit *greatly* from on board graphics. In fact, how could they be made without it?

I see that my idea(s) has been approved. I'm now awaiting the hardware, and writing this project blog entry as a test!
