Efika 5200B Project
Portable machine/network diagnostic/recovery devicein category Applications & Software

Project Summary
Mainly utilizing the usb-gadget code in the Linux kernel, I'd like to develop a small portable device suitable for various diagnostic/recovery purposes.
A sample scenario would be to take the box to a given network, plug the ethernet into the network, and hook up the usb to one computer. A LAN between the two machines can be initialized(Ethernet over USB from usb-gadget), and will be separate from the rest of the LAN. An ssh connection would then be initiated to the EFIKA box, (an ssh client would be accessible over usb-storage(File Backend Storage from usb-gadget) if one was not already present) at which point a known-clean linux box loaded with diagnostic tools, security tools, penetration testing suites, etc would be available.
I've got a few other use-cases for such a device, some likely less feasible than others, but as development progresses, ideas will mature, and others appear.
Thanks for the consideration, and opportunity,
Robert Paskowitz
