Efika 5200B Project
Provide good support for the EFIKA in NetBSD

Project Summary
I don\'t call this project \"port NetBSD\" because I think NetBSD/ofppc should run almost directly on the EFIKA, but I would like to provide native drivers for the MPC5200B peripherals so that NetBSD runs as a first-class operating system on the EFIKA.

It\'s hard without trying to know what it will take to get \"first-class\" support, but I will strive towards this goal whatever needs improving.

I am a NetBSD developer, author of the PCMCIA support for Amiga\'s in NetBSD, I worked on the Compaq T1500 thinclient to netboot NetBSD on it, I also fixed mozilla when it was broken on NetBSD/macppc, and fixed a tricky MMU-related bug in PPC OEA-based NetBSD ports. Less related, I am the person responsible for nvi (the text editor) in NetBSD. Of course, as all NetBSD developers, I have done various little things here and there for the project.

  RTAS basic support
posted by avincent on 14th January 2007

Today I added basic support for accessing the RTAS.

My Efika now reads the time-of-day clock. The line in the dmesg looks like this:

rtas0 at mainbus0 (rtas): version 1, entry @pa 0x1b98000

I committed most of what is required to boot the Efika to the NetBSD repository.
Small dmesg of work in progress

Here is the output from a -current netbsd kernel which was almost untouched (I mostly added the two lines from Jorge Acereda's patch for the Pegasos which disable the MMU when calling to the OF). Now, the problem is that the kernel sends every packet through ofnet0 at a very low rate, so I was never patient enough to wait for the system to really come up, and I don't know if it would.

NetBSD does not yet support the "bplan,EFIKA5K2".
Using generic OpenFirmware driver support.
