proposed by KarlosR on 28th April 2006 (accepted on 7th October 2006)
Project Summary
The aim of the project is provide a device based on Efika that would be capable of communicate the patients with the doctor as a sort of remote presence. Besides the device will be capable of gather data from vital signal sensor or any other sensor in the room. This communication will be carried through a PAN technology like Zigbee so it\'s necesary to design a radio interface with the Efika and a write a driver. The Efika will handle the data with a database (could be mysql). The data will be available through a web interface finally a webcam will be attached to the board.
Communication between the doctor or assistant and the Efika will be through wifi using a hand-held computer or any mobile solution.

  Some advances of the project

I was trying to install a webcam to provide feedback. I have connected the camera and seek in /proc/bus/usb/devices for the vendor and id device, I realize that the driver that support my webcam is the GSPCA / SPCA5xx. So with some kernel configuration for video support and with the help of the crosscompiler I've obtain the module. I've tested with Ekiga and it works ok.

I have developed a pulse oximeter based on a 32 bit microcontroller, it has an usb interface based on a ftdi chip so I am using the ftdi_sio driver to perform serial comunication with the Efika. This will be replaced with a wireless interface. There are still plenty of A/D converters and IO pins for other sensors. The Efika can store and show through a web page the acquired data.

I made a 60 watt PSU prototype and I am going to test a new version the next weeks. The case v1.0 is already built.
