Project Summary
Project to define and develop open source operating system and applications stack for deployment as enterprise desktop and mobile systems. Disk images are centrally maintained and automatically distributed to local image servers for deployment to local end-user systems.
The project will use EFIKA as the desktop and server platform. The goal is to substantially reduce the cost of maintaining an enterprise competent end-user environment through the use of POWER architecture and open source enterprise and end-user applications.
Desktop Management Service Reference Platform

This is the overview diagram for the production or operational version of the Desktop Management Reference Platform.
This structure supports version control, release mangement, system and application verification and integration, development and verification of standard and custom application stacks, and automated deployment and maintenance of the appropriate disk images.
The goal is to use POWER architecture as the application server, image server and end-user system.
(The diagram uses an illustration of an earlier version of the POWER Open Desktop Worstation and Open Server Wordstation. It also shows Debian as the Linux OS. Current plans would be to use Open Solaris, Gentoo or possibly SUSE because of their existing inclusion of a broader systems environment.)
