Efika 5200B Project
Barcode Stationin category Applications & Software
proposed by tomasboman on 18th April 2006 (accepted on 19th April 2006)
Project Summary
Barcode station for loading docks, used when consolidating ocean containers or trailers.
The proposed system is a Java application that runs on MorphOS, Linux or AROS (to be decided). It reads input from a low end USB barcode reader into memory, before submitting each barcode scanned to a customizable URL (a central web server or mainframe).
Used in conjunction with web based logistics systems such as Magaya, GSCS, XS06 etc. Elimiates the need for expensive radio barcode readers. Each loading dock will have a couple of these barcode stations.
Future versions will also provide receipt printing capabilities, manifest displays and other functionality currently available only via full sized client applications.
