proposed by keshi on 24th February 2006 (accepted on 20th March 2006)
Project Summary
My ongoing research is to design and deploy a distributed wireless platform for automotive sensor and data transport applications. My motivating applications include monitoring traffic conditions and car performance.

EFIKA, a small yet powerful embedded computer, can be used as the central enabling component of my system. A EFIKA equiped with WIFI card and OBD-to-serial adapter is installed on the car to support internal data collection, upload collected data and download software updates.

Opportunistic Data Transport can be done when a car is within the transmission range of the other car and a pre-deployed wireless accesspoint. The car can get its interesting information, i.e. road traffic and whether informaton in a certain region.

I will use linux as the operating system and develop corresponding data routing protocol and application.
