Project Summary
Currently all VoIP solutions lack security like normal telephones. Access to encrypted telephones was always resticted either by resticting access to the hardware or by requireing to much knowledge from the user. This should be changed. The altought the EFIKA is limited in it\'s achieveable privacy it would be a huge step in security.
The most im portant thing in this project a secure communicationplatform to normal users. The esaiest approach would be to force a user to trust his phone and because of this it would be the first goal. The next steps are to allow the user to store his key externaly in a key card. The final target is to allow the user either to do all the encryption in the trusted key card or to allow him to vertify the phone.
If this target is achieved their still one unsolved problem. The meta data aren\'t encrypted which isn\'t possible because of the latency resulting of anoymisation. This could be solved partly by a anonym mailbox.
Because it has shown that most user are unable of dealing with complex concepts like a web of trust and the problem of central CA\'s this phone will require the users to directly meet each other. At least in the early development until a solution is found which takes respect to the user\'s capabilities.Project Blog Entries
