Functional Mini Home Commander PC, initially HTPCin category Applications & Software
proposed by cardoe on 11th February 2006 (accepted on 20th March 2006)
Project Summary
Items like music playing and control via web/TV remote, viewing videos/DVDs/TV, Asterisk VOIP.
My idea is basically to have a Pegasos box as a backend for a home theather system. Music, Video, DVD, TV (MythTV) and in addition phone (VoIP).
EFIKA systems could be the remote frontends to this system and would be feed hopefully wirelessly through your home. They would provide viewing stations for Video, DVD, TV. But they could also provide music without a screen but via a remote. With regard to VoIP, they could provide remote locations for phones to be connected (i.e. They have ethernet in them and they wirelessly connect to your network.. the ethernet is for the phone) but they could cull the info out and display caller ID info descretely on the TV.
Ultimately these could control more functionality of you home. Small touch screen based connectors to these systems could provide for alarm clocks that wake you up and prompt you if you want to have the coffee machine start.
Basically I see them becoming mini-command centers for an intergrated home.
With my current Pegasos system I have been working on Mono/.NET for the PPC platform and on a connector to the Xbox. Which currently provides media frontends to many people.Project Blog Entries
