Efika 5200B Project
Sound to Data Converterin category Applications & Software
proposed by clap308 on 21st February 2006 (accepted on 20th March 2006)
Project Summary
There are some instances where it is necessary to download data from a system, but there are problems to use conventional interfaces and protocols.
Most computer systems nowadays are equiped for multimedia and contain a speaker or an audio out interface.
By encoding a file into sound (similar as to what was done in the days of the ZX Spectrum) it can be played through an audio device an captured at the other end.
This is where the EFIKA project is required.
The project will develop the board to synchronise to audio and convert the audio to data. This will require that the source computer system understands the same encoding of sound as does the EFIKA board.
The embedded EFIKA system will be developed to use the audio interface to buffer audio and at the same time decode the audio into a data file.
The data can then be stored directly to storage device (e.g. USB key) via the EFIKA USB interface.
Note this project has nothing to do with an MP3 player etc. it will develop a system that uses sound as a protocol to transfer files, in a similar way that files can be transferred over an ethernet connection.
