Efika 5200B Project
IAX/SIP adapterin category Applications & Software
proposed by tfheen on 1st March 2006 (accepted on 20th March 2006)
Project Summary
The goal is to have a relativetly cheap SIP/IAX adapter which enables old analog phones as well as USB-based headsets to be used together with a VOIP server or VOIP provider enabling the user to do VOIP calls.
Software which would be evaluated and could used in a such a setup includes:
- Linux distribution, probably a cut-down Debian or Ubuntu
- asterisk
- ekiga
- glue to give ekiga a web interface for configuration.
The project would possibly include a bit of hardware hacking to make it possible for the appliance to detect when the phone is taken off-hook as well as a method of handling DTMF (tone) signalling.
