Port of Dylan compilers to Efika

in category Applications & Software
proposed by andreas.bogk on 4th March 2006 (accepted on 20th March 2006)
Project Summary
Dylan is a programming language that can be seen as a cleaned-up version of Common Lisp, but with a more modern syntax. It was developed together by Apple, CMU and Harlequin. Two open sourced compiler implementations are available, one is a Dylan-to-C translator from the Gwydion project at CMU, the other one is a native compiler, written at Harlequin by the people who wrote LispWorks, and open sourced recently after the demise of Harlequin.

The ex-Harlequin compiler, now known as Open Dylan, has an unfinished PPC backend. The goal of this project would be to finish the PPC backend, to allow compilation of embedded Dylan appliactions for this platform. Also, porting work for Gwydion Dylan for this platform would be done.

More information about Dylan is available from http://www.opendylan.org.
