Project Summary
With a trimmed-down installation of Debian for PowerPC, and a hard-drive or large USB storage device the EFIKA will provide all the basic functions required for a software development team working on a client\'s site, at a conference etc. such as a shared file storage area and version control software (e.g. Subversion, CVS or the like).

With the addition of a miniature wireless access-point USB key such as the ZyXEL ZyAIR G-220 the system will also provide a wireless network infrastructure for the developers, making it ideal for situations where there is no existing network, or security issues prevent direct use of the client\'s network.

Where Internet connectivity is available the system will be able to provide a VPN for the entire team to connect back to their own office network. Facilities will also be provided to easily back up data stored on the EFIKA device either via the VPN connection or by direct connection to the main office network.

This system allows quick and easy setup at for the software development team working at a remote site: a single, simple, portable server that can be taken offsite at the end of the day.

Hello reader. Since this project has only just been approved the hardware component is still, presumably, a long way from Australia. In the mean-time I'll need to emulate everything. So, what have I got to work with?

- My host machine is an AMD Athlon64 3200+ with 2GB RAM
- The host dual-boots Debian Testing i386 and Debian Testing AMD64
- Currently downloading the netinst CD for Debian PowerPC from here: http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/

Next up - testing the performance of Qemu against PearPC. If you're reading this and can suggest a better emulator, let me know.

[edit] - Of-course, I should have been downloading the Etch netinst CD here: http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/
