Efika 5200B Project
PowerPC port of GoboLinux modular Linux distributionin category Operating Systems
proposed by hisham on 15th February 2006 (accepted on 20th March 2006)
Project Summary
GoboLinux is a modular Linux distribution: each package resides in its own separate directory in the filesystem. This allows for greater ease of customization when preparing specialized system images, as well as improving maintenance on upgrades (package directories are versioned, allowing for conflicting libraries to coexist). These characteristics make GoboLinux particularly well-suited for embedded platforms. We already have a working ARM port, and an SH4 port is in progress. We believe EFIKA and GoboLinux would be an excellent combination, leveraging the modularity of the distribution and the suitability of PPC as an embedded platform.
