Project Proposal
The aim is to port and optimize the open source projects maintained by the Xiph.org Foundation, http://www.xiph.org/, specially the audio ones, enabling the Open Desktop Workstation to be a complete open source based media platform.The port and optimization will begin by the project I\'m currently working on, the Speex library, and then will be expanded to the other libraries. I hope to have as many of the libraries as possible ported to the dual core PPC processors with Altivec optimizations.
This project will be tightly related to the project proposed by Kraszewski, since it will make extensive use of Altivec and multiprocessing. I hope to collaborate with Kraszewski and have both projects benefit from our efforts.
