EDIT: It should be able to use the image from a USB drive, too. Just place it and the efika.forth on the drive, 'execute' the efika.forth start the image.
http://www.powerdeveloper.org/forums/vi ... =9721#9721

I'm working on an installer which loads the nvramrc code into RAM and then stores it. After installation of efika.forth (which is relatively mature right now) you would simply need to reboot, and it will be run on boot without user interaction :)

It's quite a dangerous procedure though, so I have to make sure it's correctly done. The possibility of it working on my system and not yours is low, but still :)

I'm looking forward to that!

Although I would prefer an updated firmware. :)

I just created an updated version of my netboot image. Grab it from http://dev.gentoo.org/~corsair/efika/. It's called efika_20080525.img, but generally grab the lastest!

The image not yet perfect, but still a huge step forward compared to my earlier images. The image's init system is now based on openrc, which is a great piece of software. It's boot process just looks neat!

Oh, and it's using kernel 2.6.25.4 now! :D

The latest version of the Handbook is always available from the Gentoo web site
by typing "links http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook.xml".

To start an ssh server on this system, type "/etc/init.d/dropbear start". If
you need to log in remotely as root, type "passwd root" to reset root's
password to a known value.

Please report any bugs you find to http://bugs.gentoo.org. Be sure to include
detailed information about how to reproduce the bug you are reporting. Thank
you for using Gentoo Linux!

yea, I know.. kbd_mode failing looks bad, but it's not as bad as it looks.

Regards,

-corsair

P.S.: oh, if you are using the serial console you need to append the "console=ttyPSC0" option to the kernel to see the output. Else you won't see anything after "returning from prom_init" until the motd is shown.
