I wonder how easy we can get the OS install for the EFIKA.

I for example use the Debian install of the EFIKA.de website.
This worked quite okay but it has no sound.
It would be nice if the installer would be updated to support sound.

Would it be possible to run an tftp-server on the EFIKA website?

I for example have a broadband router but needed a second PC to get the install files downloaded and to copy them to a USB stick etc.

If you provide a public TFTP server on the internet for the install file then people could install a EFIKA without any help.

And if you provide a fullrunning mini LINUX on this public TFTP server, then people could maybe even boot from internet?

I'm thinking here on someone taking a brand new EFIKA putting it on thew CEBIT (or LINUXWORLD) and booting from internet.

Woudn't this be nice?

Cheers
Gunnar

Please upgrade your kernel to those found on :

http://power.powerlinux.fr/sven/efika-2007.07.27/

Sound works just fine on efika for me.

hello Sven

thanks for that. would it be possible to have a fast tutorial on how to upgrade the kernel with the files provided there ? most non-hardcore linux users like me can get pretty lost in this directory, i don't know what to start with !

I second that. Things like this are really troublesome for those of us who aren't quite up to speed on Linux yet.

Thanks Sven!

Maybe you could update the official EFIKA website with the new Kernel?

2nd question, would it be possible to provide an tftp server on the official EFIKA website so that people which want to install a new EFIKA can boot the installer directly from the website?
This way people could install a new EFIKA on their own using the web and won't need a second PC to download the installer anymore.

Thanks in advance

Cheers
Gunnar

Sven can't do that, and neither can I - efika.de (which efika.info points) is handled by the bplan team.

You guys need to test it first and produce a document on how to install it, before it reaches the kind of offering we orginally posted (bplan wrote a nice PDF explaining them).

Due to the way TFTP works, no. There is a better solution planned.
