It's no problem if there are no development resources to make a build, which surely works on all Peg2 boards ever released, and with all possible expansions the users might have. But please do not spread BS instead...
All of the problems you listed are eminently fixable in software, in Linux. Just nobody bothered to do it.
All those bugs are NOT silently fixed in future versions.
USB cards are still unstable! But they're useless in 1.2 firmware anyway - no devices can be mounted or used, it just initializes the card.
Set "usb-enable?" to "false" or you will have problems.
You can set the Gigabit MAC to whatever address you like, with ifconfig.
The only major change in 1.2 over the years were HAL updates, and support for a bug in the memory setup which needs a 2B5 board to work.
And a last note, firmware releases are bplan's department, and supposed to be handled by your reseller.
You should complain to them.. if you give them your MAC address and have a real problem they may give you an update.
