Hello, I need Efika to play flash movies in 1600x1200. As you know, it doesn't exist any official powerpc flash player. I have tried gnash 0.8.0 under debian 4.0, but the playback was very slow even in a small window on a 1280x1024 desktop. It took 95% of CPU.
What about MorphOS ?
Do you have any experience with this ? The graphic card I use in Efika is Gigabyte 9250 128/128.
I already signed a petition for official powerpc swf .
If Efika would run flash movies in 1600x1200, I should have a customer and a distribution.

Thank you, very much.

mplayer can play flash movies (.flv files, not .swf). swfdec is another possibility.

That probably won't work, unless your flash movie is a lot smaller resolution, and you can use hardware overlay feature to play the movie. (ie. you need working DRI, and Xv extension on your X server).

Yes, gnash works but it's very slow even on my PegasosII/G4... So, you shouldn't expect wonders on Efika... :(

I don't know any Gnash 0.8.0 port for MorphOS. There's a highly optimized and fast MPlayer port, which can play .flv movies. Hardware overlay features of MorphOS are also quite advanced, and the MPlayer port can use them extensively.

Make sure, you have DRI enabled in Linux. (check with: glxinfo | grep direct) That should give you some extra performance, but again, don't expect wonders...

That probably won't help you. The Linux port of official Adobe Flash player is slow, and the OS X/PPC port is also slow. An 1ghz x86 is barely enough to play flash movies on Linux/x86, and my G3/600 iBook is clearly not enough for the OSX/PPC flash player... And anyway, Adobe was among the first companies, who celebrated Apple's x86 switch. I don't really expect them to release anything for Linux/PPC... :(
