@Neko:
"It would again be a ... $199 CPU card (maybe more!) just like it was 5 years ago"
OK... but I am willing to pay $200 or more for a CPU upgrade card.
For example, NewTech offers 7447A based CPU upgrades for Macs.
This one costs $239,99 and is clocked at 1,6 GHZ:

This is kind of exactly what I want for my Peg2. The 7447A does run in the Peg2 (AFAIR you made some 1,4 GHZ 7447A cards for the ODW), and 1,6 GHZ is a big step forward. Sure, 2 GHZ would be better, but 1,6 GHZ would be nice, too.
Personally, I would not hesitate to pay $250 for a 1,6 GHZ 7447A card, because I really want it, and because my Peg2 motherboard does still meets my needs except the CPU speed, and because a Pegasos2-successor seems to be still far away.
NewTech did even offer a 7447A based CPU upgrade card at 2,0 GHZ which costed $399, but the link to that card is dead.
But they still offer a 7448 based CPU upgrade card clocked at 2,0 GHZ which costs $449:

Another solution _could_ be an adapter so we oould use PPC upgrade cards from NewTech or one of the other CPU upgrade card vendors for PPC Macs.
And yes, the Pegasos2 is 5 years old, but just because of this fact and because you cannot offer a faster successor currently you should consider a CPU upgrade for the community.
One year ago bbrv asked the community if we want such a CPU upgrade, but there were not enough people interested in this - I think because the OSW was announced for 2006.
But now "everyone" needs or wants more horse power more urgently than in mid-2006, and nobody knows when the Pegasos2 successor will be out.
So, why not ask the community again if they want a 1,6 GHZ clocked 7447A CPU upgrade for the Peg2 at, for example, $250 or so? How many people would be necessary to be interested in this to make it happen?
