Hello everybody.
I have upgraded my Ubuntu distro on Pegasos II to the latest Feisty.
Everything goes pretty well, but, of course, I cannot upgrade Xorg, because of the well known problem (sysfs pci scan instead of proc), which in Edgy had been fixed by Kozz (thank you again!) with a special repository.
I wish I could fix the new xorg, too, but I just don't know where to start from.
Any help would be very appreciated.
TNX in advance

Mario Sanzullo

you could try to apply the hacky p_ppc_domain_workaround.diff
from opensuse.
It built/worked on my gentoo-system but i anyway prefered
to downgrade later

@frostwork

sorry...
I can't find the "p_ppc_domain_workaround.diff" from opensuse.
Where is it and how can it be built?

Of course I'm not that expert, so if there is a simple way to learn how-to, I'd be very grateful for any help

hi
it is part of the opensuse xorg-xerver.rpm.

Best way to apply the diff is to use an overlay (please see official gentoo overlay documentation on how to do this)

in the overlaypath make a x11-base dir
and copy the whole xorg-server from your regular portage there.
Now copy following text as xorg-server-1.2.0-r1.ebuild:
-----------

# Distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License v2
# $Header: /var/cvsroot/gentoo-x86/x11-base/xorg-server/xorg-server-1.2.0-r1.ebuild,v 1.1 2007/02/19 21:34:17 joshuabaergen Exp $

if everything is correctly a
emerge --digest xorg-server
should emerge the patched xorg-server-1.2.0-r1.
As said before I anyway would recommend to stay with xorg-server-1.1.1-r4 till a better workaround exists...

good luck
