Hi XzIt,

you can install Gnome (witch has better mixer controls) by logging in as root and typing
yum install gnome

yum works like apt-get and will find the latest version of gnome for yellow dog.
you can also update your yellow dog install to 4.0.1 with
yum update

As for playing mp3's, xine does a nice job. to install xine you need to edit /etc/yum.conf and add
Code:
[freshrpms]
name=Yellow Dog Linux 4.0 Freshrpms
baseurl=http://ayo.freshrpms.net/yellowdog/4.0/ppc/freshrpms/

[os]
name=Yellow Dog Linux 4.0 OS
baseurl=http://ayo.freshrpms.net/yellowdog/4.0/ppc/os/

[updates]
name=Yellow Dog Linux 4.0 Updates
baseurl=http://ayo.freshrpms.net/yellowdog/4.0/ppc/updates/
then type yum install xine
after xine is installed a link needs to be made to play dvd's, type
ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/dvd

hope this helps
nels

The problem is know where can i choose gnome??? the Session button in the login give me KDE only...
The apt-get, tells me gnome is already in, so does yum.

Make sure the sound card is setup.
click on start > system settings > soundcard detection
click on a sound card (for Pegasos donot choose Apple computer Inc. )
click on play test sound
if you hear sound choose a primary sound card at bottom of window and click ok.

click start > control center
click on sound & multimedia > sound system
click enable the sound system check box
click on apply

@XzIt
can you open the mixer controls?

if you get an error when opening the mixer (ie. start > sound & video > volume control)

make a link to mixer
ln -s /dev/mixer /dev/mixer0

nels

edit: sorry I wrote the link command backwards, it's ok now :oops:
