Hi, i just built a 2.6.20-rc3 new kernel for efika, and uploaded it at :

http://people.debian.org/~luther/efika

It is not yet tested, but should include the latest fixes, and a very preliminary sound driver. I am going to bed now, and will test tomorrow, but i guess impatient efika users may want to test it this evening still, so there it is.

Keep in touch for more efika based kernels, and hopefully soon a publicly available efika git tree.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Well, there was a problem in the network driver, which we fixed with Sylvain. I am doing a new build now, and hope to test the sound support after that.

BTW, my outgoing mail still seems hosed :/

Ok, i did a bit of testing, and the sound seems to work, altough this is a very preliminary driver yet.

The network bug has been fixed also, thanks to Sylvain for it.

I will move this new kernel into the repository, so i can easily be apt-getted.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Sven, which repository do we need to set for these kernels?

to enable correctly network driver did you add this to your patch' collection?

Sven,

I have been trying to net-boot the di_efika image on my EFIKA. It seems to download just fine but when it should start booting I get nothing on-screen from the EFIKA. I do _not_ have a serial cable. Is it supposed to put up a console on-screen and accept keyboard input or do I have to supply a boot arguement for that?

Alternately, would it be possible for me to load the 2.6.20-rc3 image you created and mount to an nfsroot and display on screen as opposed to serial console?

Thanks

UPDATE - I have figured it out... Two problems. First, my di_efika image was corrupt. Second, not even text mode would work under Linux on the EFIKA when I had the nVidia board plugged in. I had to swap it for my ATi Radeon that I use in my desktop.

ATA doesn't work and neither does it with the Crux-provided patches.

I compiled a kernel myself from self-patched source and got nothing better. ATA is in there, it just doesn't work.
