Hi.

Some added information.

The EFIKA is located in Finland, connected to my home network connection (1Mbit DSL line).
It is running Apache2 with MySQL and PHP. There is also an SSH server running. The EFIKA was installed without graphics card, just the serial console. Took less than 30 minutes I think :-)
It has a 4GB harddrive connected to it (some old one I ripped from an old laptop).

For those interested in the memory useage:
EFIKA:~# cat /proc/meminfo
MemTotal: 125080 kB
MemFree: 3760 kB
Buffers: 7908 kB

Can you see how many Watts the EFIKA draws?

Hi.

This is a VERY rough estimate, as the EFIKA is running with an older less efficient harddrive, and the powersupply powering the EFIKA is nowhere near as efficient as a PicoPSU.
I'm reading this straight from the Lab-PowerSupply, which is also not very accurate.
At 12V, 0.37A ==> 4.44 Watt

I will try to make some more accurate measurements, bypassing the PSU, with and without HD etc. tommorow or so.

Best regards,
Johan

Cool!

I just measured mine with an el Cheapo power
meter and I measured a maximum of 22W in
Smart Firmware. It switched between 2-3,
14-15 and 21-22W. This is with an 80 GB
HDD and Radeon 9200SE card!

PurpleAlien:

would you mind measuring the power consumption with a wireless pci card attached and a usb webcam?

(assuming you have those)

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

I don't have a wireless PCI card here, so I can't test that.
I plugged in an old StyleCam USB camera, and the power consumption goes up to about 5.76 Watts.
Again, these numbers are very inaccurate. I will do some more tests in the lab on Monday if I have time.

Best regards,
Johan

Hi.

Someone suggested I should add Rebol :-)

http://62.142.193.236/apache2-default/cgi-bin/rbbs.cgi

EDIT: I've been a fan of Rebol for a long time. So now this is the first EFIKA webserver running PPC Rebol :-)

Best regards,
Johan

you know , thats very impressive, i assume the web server is running as you took that.

it might go down a lot if an IDE to CF converter and 1 gig compact flash were used in place of the HD?, or a USB keyring 1/2/4 gig HD might be better if slower ?.

i assume its probably (almost?) usable with a simple solar panel (car)battery charger and consumer rechargable battery pack, if it were easy to get cheap DC to ATX converters (its not apparently , shame).

BTW, is the 512 meg ram version a special order, or will these be available as a standard part/order at some point BBRV?.

Hi.

Yes, the power consumption was taken while running. Total uptime by the way: 11:30 and rising :-)

I'm sure the power consumption is even lower than what I stated, and it will take a serious dip with a more efficient harddrive, or a Compact Flash card (will try that later).

Also, note that these power ratings include the not-so-efficient power supply. PicoPSU should be better.

I am planning solar energy and battery as well for some of my EFIKA projects. This should be no problem!

Best regards,
Johan

Hi.

Since I'm stress-testing the board anyway, you can log in into the EFIKA through ssh :-)

IP=62.142.193.236
user=demo
pass=demo

You can check out stuff like /proc etc.
Please don't fill the drive ;-)

Best regards,
Johan

i'm about to order one, i'll go for the 80W picoPSU, far, far, far enough.
