Contacting the OpenDarwin team isn't enough. They have to accept a
machine and have time and manpower and MOTIVATION to port it. It's
not only impolite to throw free hardware at people and expect a
result, it's also fairly unproductive.
Maybe in the future OpenDarwin will get a few machines. The price
of the ODW is coming DOWN (it will never get any higher), for
example right now if you want to support Gentoo you can buy an
ODW with Gentoo from the Gentoo Store (preorders until 1st March)
for $999, $100 of which goes directly to the Gentoo Foundation.
Buying Mac Mini for the purpose of porting to the Mac Mini, why
would they need to do that? Apple already did it for them. OpenDarwin
installs, boots and runs PERFECTLY on the Mac Mini already. Remember
OpenDarwin is derived from Apple's MacOS X kernel. There is no market
for Mac users running OpenDarwin in that case either - they can just
run REAL Darwin.
