Hello! Has anyone tried to set up IP over firewire network with Pegasos?
I've queried Google about this question and found frightening stories about FW adapters with economized away protection diodes on the power lines. Connecting such a card to another computer with common 6wire cable results in self-destruction of the system  .
Does anyone have any real experience with it? May be there are some "safe" versions of 6-to-6 cables which are actually 5-to-5 (with power line removed)?

Hi,

I experienced 3 LaCie hard drives with firewire->IDE interfaces exploded cause of powerline on firewire 6 ports. This 3 drives were exploded on 1 year.
" I have 26 LaCie hard drives on my work"
Then I bought what you're searching for

I'm using this little boxe, and dont have anymore Firewire problems

One other solution would be to use 4-pin powerless cables (like a laptop has) and external power supplies.
