In this thread you can read that there could be a potential production run of a faster 7447A upgrade card for the Pegasos 2, but only if interest is high enough:
Quote:
b. There may be a 7447A card upgrade. We *have* made a few. They work. The issue is simply supply and demand. Send us an email if you would upgrade one for 200 Euros. That is about what it costs to make. This would simply be a _take care of you users_ gesture. We would do it if there are enough of you. You will pay for the shipping! It does not make any sense to do this with the 7448. We have explained this before.
But the interest seems to be moot? I mailed them yesterday, and here is the reply I got:
Quote:
Hi Stefan, you are #4.

That was just to let you know the response level.

R&B
Are you people really not interested in an upgraded and faster Pegasos? Four interested people in two days? Must be because of people doesn't know about it?

The word about this must be spread, and if this is really a serious offer from Genesi, maybe they should do some effort in marketing this opportunity themselves?

Anyway, if you are interested, mail bbrv at genesi-usa dot com.

The thing to understand here is this: Users will not inquire about something that feels like vapour or is a future promise. If you announce availibility of boards, you can then gauge the volume of order and go from there. If its worth it, you go ahead and produce them, if not cancel it and make an announcement.

Its a chicken before the egg situation. Look at the Peg2 availability. Recently nobody even knew there was peg2s being produced and ready for sale. Just because you may have made a Forum Post about it months ago, doesnt mean people know. What is needed is community Promotion and Communication. OFfer special deals - Free Shipping! Limited time $99 off, free HD upgrade, etc etc. There is No Sales/Marketing arm so this is a rather tight sitation for Genesi.

So...what is the speed again?
Does 200 EUR include VAT?
Is it 100% compatible with MOS?

Pegasos CPU is not big or heavy, maybe it can be sent in a small box as a letter
so it doesn't cost big $$ to ship it around the world back to Germany. ;-)

I talked with the guy I'm giving the Pegasos-II after I get OSW, and he said he could be interested about the 7447A upgrade, expecially if it delivers more processing power and less heat.

Will I send an email or do you register this as interest?

Edit: The guy said that if it's passvely cooled, he'll buy it. No questions asked.

It probably won't be passively cooled. There are ways nevertheless...;-) But, it won't ship this way - if it ships.

So far, we have 30+ responses. Whatever happens, we will limit the production to the statements of interest we have received. This will not be a commonly available offering. It will be a limited offering to those interested and involved enough in the Pegasos/ODW community to be reading these posts. If you have not sent us an email, you won't have the upgrade option. This is as much our investment in the community as the community's investment in the platform. 8)

I am interested in a PegII with a fast G4. No upgrade card(still have my same Peg1 since 2002), but an additional maschine. Will you sell new mobos with a faster G4 than the 1 Ghz?

Also I suggest to handle shipping to the EU from Steinabch/GER and not from the U.S. It will reduce custom and tax issues.

Hi BBRV!

Great timing for a faster G4! :) Then I´ll have to write an
Email too.

Of course shipping costs (Europe/US) and clock are
quite important for the decision if to order the upgrade.

Many regards,
Peter

Yes yorgee, if we do it.

Sven says we have not publicized this enough so we may "run it up the flagpole" again and re-check the interest level out there (but, that will not be this week!).
