magnetic!

1. When did you build it the last time?
0.19 builds nice. Only unnice thing is setting
mysql up for myth, but there are good docs for it...

2. ivtv is in fact a prob. 0.7 still doesn't work
with 2.6.17.x kernel... :(
Lirc should be quiet easy to setup for a
hauppauge pvr350 remote control
(at least it was easy under debian some time ago...)

3. no idea what that is :?:

4. The pvr350 has tv-out onboard & there are drivers
on the ivtvdriver.org page.
Last time i tried (on debian) the tv-screen froze
after some secs. No idea if that works now.
Alternatively gatos-tv-out works very good...

5. capture/playback worked good -
viewing livetv was not funny.

6. Never used some, but there is f.e. ktvschedule
which should do the job...

etc

Hi !
no need to fight ;-)

Well I succeded in building a home media center on various configs :
- Pegasos II : Linux Gentoo + MythTV + PVR350
- x86 : Linux Gentoo + MythTV + PVR350
- x86 : Linux KnopMythTV => did not like my x86 config
- x86 : Linux Gentoo + MythTV + PVR350
- x86 : XP + MediaPortal + PVR350

You must admit that things are really easier to do on XP than on Linux because things are already pre-built and you just have to install the software and drivers provided by constructors.
Anyway, I guess that it will be more easier for use when frostwork will have finished "enlightenmedia".

Why did I chose a x86 ? Well, the thing is that I was having a x86 P4 which I was not using much since I had bought a laptop.
Then on Pegasos lirc was working well but not on my x86 for an obscure reason. Then I broke my x86 Gentoo system when I tried to install xorg 7.0.
So as I wanted to use my remote control, and xp+Media portal were not working that bad, I then chosed this solution.
But, anyway it was working quite well on a Pegasos too and if I had no extra computer, I would have chosen the Pegasos, which is more funny/geeky :-)
