I would appreciate if every game developer could introduce himself here quickly.
Its obvious that we as group will be more efficient if we help each others.
So it would be nice if you could highlight your strength so that others can ask you in case they need help.

Please mention where you live.
Who knows maybe your neighbour is in this group as well?

It would be nice if you could tell us if you would prefer to create a game with others together in a small team or if you are ready to do a game all alone.

So I just start:

My name is Gunnar von Boehn.
I'm 34 years old, married and have one 5 month old daughter.
I'm a professional software developer with a colorful Amiga history and now mainly working on Linux.

Skills:
- C
- ASM[68k/PPC/x86]
- PHP
- SQL
- Experienced in game design

Living in Germany / Nagold (Blackforest)

Team work:
I'm happy to help everyboy in game planning and design as required.

I'm Thibaut JEANSON, 30, Paris, France.

I'm a musician/producer/dj, mostly electronic music (drum'n'bass, breakbeat, triphop, abstract hiphop...). I've done some soundtracks for short movies and radio stuff and a few vinyl records under different aliases.

Why am i posting in this thread ? well doing music for a game would be something interesting for me. So why not.

My name is Jochen Heizmann (but everybody calls me Joe) from Alpirsbach, Germany (also black forest).

I started programming and creating music on my Amiga some years ago.

After I worked for some years in a web agency I found out that my real profession should be developing games, and so I started my company Intermediaware together with a friend of mine (Emmanuel), and today w're developing indie/shareware/casual games.

You're welcome to check out my website: http://www.intermediaware.com

My skills are:

Programming: C/C++ / Blitz3D/BlitzMax
HTML/Javascript/PHP/MySQL
Creating Music (I have a professional studio gear)

I'm a big shoot'em'up fan and hope we can create some cool games together with Gunnar.

Hello y'all

I'm Jyri "SkyWay" Honkanen and I live in Finland.

I have 6 years of experience in mainly 3d graphics creation, but also music, 2d and animation(flash and 3d)

How should I put this...?
Experience(in years)

3D Studio Max : from the version 3(about 5 years)
Propellerheads Reason : about 4 years(before Reason I used Fruity Loops)
Photoshop : 4 years(Before PS I used PSP...argh)

I can do low and highpoly models in 3d and I have skill in texturing also...

Then I have some experience in videoediting and sound editing(really I am NOT bragging with some two minutes of scrolling trough all these programs XD)

What else? I am a BIG fan of the shooter genre, particularly shoot'em ups. And as any artist I always aspire to make something bigger with my imagination and this project is just what I have wanted :)

I really want to thank Gunnar for giving this opportunity to all of us.

Go check out some of my graphics in DA skyway.deviantart.com

SkyWay out

Hey there,

My name is Steev Klimaszewski
I am a 29 year old Linux developer, and my skills are quite less impressive than everyone else in here. My main focus is on mobile and networking.

When it comes to graphics, I am more of a novice, although I have experience with Photoshop and GIMP (more time spent in GIMP these days since I run Linux exclusively.)

I am from Detroit, MI, USA originally, though I now live in Tulsa, OK, USA now. I hope to help out as best I can.

My email is steev@gentoo.org
My website is http://steev.net
My development blog is http://steev.wordpress.com

Hey guys good to meet all of you. I'm Paul Rezendes and live currently for the next few months at least in San Diego, California. In December I will be moving to White Sands, New Mexico.

My Skills are mostly in artwork and basic 2D. I've used Photoshop for a very long time. More then 8 years. I'll be doing title screens, and things like that. I can do anything else you all need with pushing too, I just do not like to code. Its not something I ever got into. i hate getting done and finding bugs and thats what code is all about! ;)

You can all reach me at acill(at)mac(dot)com

I've been so busy getting my system together and out to sea the last two months I havent had time to do much at all. I feel bad about it. I will attempt to recreate the cool graphics i did when I lost emailed you gunnar. I seem to have deleted them by mistake!

BTW I can now boot into Ubunto, Gentoo, Debian, Mac OS X Tiger and MorphOS from the boot menu at startup! My Pegasos is awesome now!

My name is Juha-Pekka Jokela. Age is 26, and I live currently in Helsinki, Finland. Used to live in Raahe, but this year I started work as a Linux programmer at Tietoenator.

I've always been somewhat interested in "anything 3D" and during the last few years I've been learning OpenGL, which seems to be "the way to go".

When it comes to games, I don't really like FPS shooters that much (which is kind of againist "liking 3D", I know) - they just repeat each other too much. Personally I like "oldskool shooters" and would like to do one with 3D acceleration some day. Actually I do have a simple "start of a game engine" for such a game, but I want to finish "Thurst" first.

Thurst is a traditional multiplayer gravity game MUCH like Bratwurst on classic amiga. All graphics are done in opengl, and it features zooming, that isn't too common in games of that genre. Currently I'm mostly concentrating on the code, which means there aren't many improvements done for graphics, sounds, levels etc. (at least not by me).

Additionally, one of the ideas behind the game was to NOT make it "just a game" but rather an engine, that can be used for quite many kinds of games. I have had Super Cars 2 clone in my mind since the beginning, and one day I also modified the sources to make the game Bob's Bad Day clone instead (worked quite nicely)

Skills:
C
OpenGL
