Hi all!

In the last few months I spent most of my time
to work on my next live-dvd called
"enlightenmedia" or short "emedia".
I want "emedia" to be the biggest multimedia
system ever & it will be
- bootable from dvd
- bootable as a "live-image" from a partition of your choice
(from USB will work, too...)
- easily full installable
(Please see wip-list below for integrated applications)

Enlightenment (e17) will be the default desktop
latest kde & gnome are available, too
(either in "normal mode" or XGL/compiz - accelerated)
MythTV will (hopefully) be directly bootable, too.

The reason for starting this thread is that
I'd like you to give some suggestions
(f.e. which other programs/features should be included)

Additionally several people had problems with my
xorg.cfg on former livecds, so I'd like to
use this thread to collect your xorg.cfgs in order
to include them all (& make them selectable via
cmdline) - A better solution is welcome of course, too :)

OK, here's the wip-list of already included
(gui-)apps:
- all apps are at the latest version
- list is not complete
- " will get even bigger
- some apps might vanish in release (?)

HELLO FROSTWORK!
This is actually a GREAT project.
I'm not at home, because of work, but in weekend I'll be back and send to you my xorg.conf.
Strange enough, all you previous live-dvds (Molk, GA, CD32) worked fine for me but Freevo-live, which "switchs off" my monitor after booting sequence.
See you soon

Mario

Hi Frostwork !
That's great ;-)

Maybe you could add :
- Chromium (in the games list).
- Gnomemeeting/Ekiga ?
-Freevo (if you have space (so that we can switch from MythTV to Freevo).
- OpenOffice
...

When is your release planned (maybe I could add something about it in the next PegBook). I am currently trying to build a home media center from Genesi's docs.

OK... Have to go...

looks like a very good package list, cube/sauerbraten + scummvm would be a good additions to games

scummvm would be great, seeing as the lucasarts point'n'click adventures had some of the best narratives out there and still do.

Hi again!
Thanks for interest!
OK, I'll add Chromium (already started a bit "cdga 2" btw :) )
Gnomemeeting/Ekiga : OK, will try...
OpenOffice probably not as it's quiet big (when at the end there's still enough
room left, I'll add it...)
Freevo: Sorry don't want to go through this dependency hell again
(whenever Freevo2 is ready I'm sure a LiveCD isn't far...)

No idea when it's ready, but it surely needs some more time...

Lirc will be included (a configure option like --enable-all-working) would be nice, as some drivers don'T seem to like ppcs... )

Cube will probably be on cdga2, sauerbraten is too slow here - do you have it running in good speed?
Scumm is a good idea!

emedia is gentoo-based, though I have to say that almost all packages are
compiled manually (i.e w.o. emerge)

1 general question:
Am I allowed to include java stuff on a livecd?

cheers

@frost
For Java, I guess that if it's IBM Java, you're not allowed :-(

Hhhm, I already though so :(
Am I allowed to include the object-files of libdvdcss (which is forbidden in
several countries) & let them link together to the working lib on bootup?

cheers

If you want your DVD to be legal anywhere, you'd better remove it too :-(

the MPAA made sure of that didnt they. perhaps you could have the packages on the disk and upon bootup the user would have to enable the functionality. It might get the project from being illegal with libdvdcss.

Hmm, so libdvdcss seems to be too dangerous :(
Thanks for infos!

Completely OFF-TOPIC:
does someone know a USB-Wlan stick which is know to work on
ppc/pegasos? I've googled that sticks based on a ZD1211 chip seem
to work on linux-ppc. Can s.o. confirm this?
My current Dlink DWL-G122 doesn't seemt to work with latest rt73usb-module
from rt2x00-cvs :(

cheers
frostwork
