Its a great article, i used it for reference to draw up a ATX baseplate and case. Also interesting as it highlights some of the reasons it came around to be the standard.

Although I know the original post is fairly old, I think it's still valid to say that the article puts too much weight on BTX being the "future" of form-factors. This standard has been pushed hard almost solely by Intel from what it seems, and even that push seems to be losing strength. One quick look at how many actual boards are available in this form-factor compared to ATX shows that BTX is far from gaining anything that could be considered a popular standard.

I've read some articles and comparisons betwen ATX and BTX that talk more about this subject... if anyone is interested then I'll dig up some links.

i agree they do tout BTX as ATX's successor, but as of yet there are no alternatives to BTX as a next-gen board layout
