Today Blue Gene ranks as the number one and number two fastest supercomputers on the TOP500 list along with 17 other entries in the top 100. The world's fastest supercomputer is installed at the Department of Energy's/National Nuclear Security Administration's Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Blue Gene has achieved an astonishing 367 peak teraflops now that a 64 rack system with over 131,000 IBM PowerPC® processors"
the lack of a PPC client seems to be the fact that someone there only thinks apple OS and the fact that
the BBC apparently didnt give the oxford guys time to
compile a fortran client for the PPC.
it seem rather strange to me that theres several fortran90 compilers for PPC but noone asked the MET office or their IP holders for permission to make one.
i rather suspect that they were currently unaware that PPC and altivec were far more than just apple.
hopefully someone there will see the posts and now understand that it might be wise to compile a few
linux ppc clients.
hows the test cluster centre coming along? would that
be able to crunch some cycles if the client is made, and if so perhaps you might be able to use that in advertising product and we all perhaps benifit then...
