Hi, all!

The very impressive
http://effectv.sourceforge.net/
works (almost) on ppc.
After changing a bit the Makefile it compiles without any problems,
& it even works with 47 plugins enabled...
The only problem is that the v4l-format "yuyv" isn't used by
effecttv as rgbX & yuvX are supported (these give wrong colors here).
Maybe it can be made to work somehow
(veejay uses f.e. sources from kino to convert yuyv to yuv:
http://veejay.dyne.org/trac.cgi/wiki/Ve ... 3&diff=yes).
I'll keep on fighting with this one, but I'm no coder (yet)...

cheers

Well I'm not sure what can be done with post video FX...

Maybe we could setup an Efika board to make a funny karaoke system with fun video FX ?

That is really cool software! If you could get it working on peg that would be cool. I had kino running and the colors and display looked great (though video to slow for productive usage) A guy here claims he did some mods and had it running full speed, using Altivec engine.

Keep on this one! (and some dev please help him)

Frostwork: i Posted on the forum of Effect tv and maybe we can get some help from those guys there.

ps.. This Would make an Excellent Efika project, but not for "karaoke" but for Live Dj shows, art projects and the like. A box for say $299 where you just plug in video and ouput the fx video would be a nice coup!

In case it works correctly, I can make packages of course!
I tried on gentoo & debian atm.
There's also an older debian ppc-package available in the debian-pool
but this has the same issues...

cheers

No, not yet! I'm very busy with other stuff atm...
I think if effectv would support v4l2 it would simply work without
any modifications, but it's just a quick guess...

If its not using Video 4 linux then what is it using for a video driver? btt8x stuff? If you'd like I can put together an email to the dev. He seems like a cool video hacker type :P

Hi!
It uses v4l but only v4l(1) & not the new v4l2.
bttv is only the driver for most budget-tv-cards...
Would be cool if you can contact the author :)

cheers

Yay

I'm glad the post worked! This guy seems really cool, I can relate to him as he is a video artist. I think between him and the aother of Veejay they will probably come up with a solution/fix for the yuvn prob...

:P
