For school we were setting up a server that uses the httpd , ftp and a few other pointless services. We wanted to do some JSP and got Tomcat installed on it and it all works great. But just for kicks we wanted to make the server an Imac. Looking up different websites it should function just like any FC4 system.

But just to try it out first we found an old ibook kicking around and thaught it would be great to try it out before putting it on the little imac.

We got the server up and running. Evreything works good except I can't get tomcat on the system.

It is very odd, I have googled for about 2 weeks now and haven't found one solution that has worked.

If anyone knows how to do this, and can provide clear instructions on how to get evreything to work. ( Step -by -step) perferably this would be great.

Thanks

Ty

'yum install tomcat5' ought to install it.

It worked for me -- at least to the extent that something is now listening on port 8080. I haven't tried actually _doing_ anything with it.

Did you actually start it?

/sbin/service tomcat5 start
/sbin/chkconfig tomcat5 on
