I've acquired 8 Efika MX Smarttops, for use at a warehouse. Some of these work perfectly fine and never crash (they're always on), however 2 crash from time to time and 1 crashes almost daily.

I've already blacklisted the wireless module because I had more crashes at first (on more devices as well). I also tried unloading the sound modules (this gives a trace in dmesg because of some error as well) on the most problematic device, but the day after it was locked up again.

I did notice that the screen seemed interlace shifted horizontally, but I'm not sure what to make of that.

All of these Efika MX are updated with latest updates. They're all running the same software (a very simple java program displaying a name and count). Screensaver and screen blanking is disabled, output after crash is the same as before, except for the noted interlace shift mentioned above.

I checked the kern.log files, but there's nothing there either, I'm not sure what else to check.

I would be extremely happy if someone can tell me what's wrong or can give me any pointers to finding out what's happening.
Regards,

Michael

Hi Michael, please send back the bad unit. We will replace it. Then, we will sort out what is going on with the other two.

Where did you purchase the unit? Please send this information back to us by email. Thank you.

Best regards,
R&B :)
