Seems to be a well kept secret, searching the forums does not turn up anything that works.

Tried root/root.

If it is running Ubuntu and you have gone through the OEM setup menu that comes up at first boot. then you have sudo access. just type sudo su and enter in your own password to gain root access.

Its kind of like with MacOS X where no password is set for root and you are expected to use sudo to gain root privs. However if you really want to have a password for root you can simply set one by typing passwd root after you do sudo su.

I hope that helps.

There was no setup at all, it booted right up to
the desktop.

If I do sudo su it asks "password for efika:"

Did I get a previously used netbook?

If you have a dock at the bottom of the screen, and a nice Genesi wallpaper, then you've likely got what we consider the "dock" image. The root password should be 'efika' (without the '')

That is a bit odd. try using efika as the password.

Worst case you can always download the most recent maverick install image onto an SD card and try installing off of that.

No joy on the efika password.

I'm creating a Fedora SD card right now as that is
what I was going to do anyway. I can reinstall after
that but it's annoying to think this is a netbook
that was a return. Unless there is some way to bypass
firstboot that's all I can gather.

There are multiple images that we flash to the machines internally. We do not ship out refurbs at all.

Hi, this unit just shipped this week. It has the dock image. "efika" should be the only thing you need. There is no root, just sudo. :)

Ok, got it. I was just concerned when there was some question about a setup process that it did not boot to.

I loaded FC13 to a SD card and it's working fine so that will be what I use anyway.
