Recently I've been trying to put Arch Linux on my Efika MX Smarttop. What I did was used the program Unetbootin (in Windows) to write the img file of Arch Linux to my flash drive. I haven't found any way to get Arch Linux on my Smarttop. What do I need to do/what am I doing wrong?

Hi, please use an SD card as your boot medium.

You will find instructions on how to write an image file to an SD card on the following page:

So I just write the image file using that program to the SD card, insert the card, and it will boot from it?

Hi.

Unless Arch provides an Efika SD card image, no.

Have a look at the ArmHF image here:

http://www.powerdeveloper.org/platforms/efikamx/linux

This is an SD card image that the Efika can boot from - call it a "Live SD" system.

You will see that it contains two partitions, one containing the kernel and boot scripts, the other the root file system of, in this case, Debian.

What you can do is replace the root file system with the one from Arch Linux. Make sure you keep the settings in e.g., fstab the way they are on the Debian system.

Johan.
