Hello all,

The october release of maverick, don't know about earlier ones, has fuse's GID set to 1000 and admin's is 1001, I checked Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04 for x86 and they both use 1xx numbers for these two, it's not a big problem, just awkward, normally, on Debian, anything other then a real user has a GID well below 1000. It has side effects though, itcauses real user accounts to have GIDs different from their UIDs, by default atleast, and you can't use the same UIDs and GIDs for real users across different systems, if you have already set those up and started numbering at 1000, again not an insurmountable problem, just something that makes live a little less easy. Can I savely change the admin's and fuse's GID on a running system? There are only one or two files belonging to group admin or fuse, but still, better save than sorry.

Frank.

That should be ok, but I suggest giving it a try with all your data backed up so you can restore the system in case something goes wrong.
