is it possible to get a resolution lower than 1024x600 on the smartbook?

Hi.

No, that is not possible, at least not easily. You could replace the screen and modify the driver. We've seen people do it in the past to connect larger resolution screens that way.

I think it is possible to use a smaller resolution with the same screen by modifying the driver. The component (mtl017), which is responsible for preparing the image data for the screen is able to do up and downscaling. It would be therefore possible to use a framebuffer with smaller resolution and have it upscaled by the mtl017.
