The Efika delivered to me 11/2011 did not display a screen on my Dell monitor when running from the pre-installed release, see:
http://www.powerdeveloper.org/forums/vi ... php?t=2108
When I tried to boot from a Gentoo distribution, what displayed was unreadable, see:
http://www.powerdeveloper.org/forums/vi ... php?t=2110. I contacted the developer who was unable to reproduce the problem.
When I tried to boot from the high watermark of the Efika releases, I got a screen and I'm guessing it is at a lower resolution than my monitor's native 1920x1200. I successfully entered into Ubuntu where I can now do something (like installing Gentoo).
Apparently I am not alone in having problems with the HDMI output, see various topics "Black Screen".
What can I provide from my Ubuntu session that will help identify at least what works in Ubuntu. I'm wondering if there is a certain setting that is universally more likely to work on monitors and people writing boot scripts could use the setting to get a better chance of having the screen appear instead of being a crap shoot for matching an unknown monitor.
