The Efika delivered to me 11/2011 did not display a screen on my Dell monitor when running from the pre-installed release, see: http://www.powerdeveloper.org/forums/vi ... php?t=2108

When I tried to boot from a Gentoo distribution, what displayed was unreadable, see: http://www.powerdeveloper.org/forums/vi ... php?t=2110. I contacted the developer who was unable to reproduce the problem.

When I tried to boot from the high watermark of the Efika releases, I got a screen and I'm guessing it is at a lower resolution than my monitor's native 1920x1200. I successfully entered into Ubuntu where I can now do something (like installing Gentoo).

Apparently I am not alone in having problems with the HDMI output, see various topics "Black Screen".

What can I provide from my Ubuntu session that will help identify at least what works in Ubuntu. I'm wondering if there is a certain setting that is universally more likely to work on monitors and people writing boot scripts could use the setting to get a better chance of having the screen appear instead of being a crap shoot for matching an unknown monitor.

Hi, have a look:

Image

That is a desktop from a unit that was just returned because it would not display. We simply connected all the cables and booted the machine. As you can see it works fine. We have re-imaged the system and it is being donated to an educational project.

We have had some awful trouble understanding why the displays that do not work don't. You are not having a memorable user experience. Sorry about that!

R&B :)

It seems to me that HDMI technology has the variable of what's on the other side of the cable. I'm guessing the problem I have is that the drivers do not match my Dell in some instances. Since I posted the above question, I thought I'd share what my default settings in the Ubuntu image I recently downloaded are:

Clicking System-Preferences-Monitor:

1280 x 720

60 Hz

Rotation: Normal

Monitor: unknown.

Clicking the detect Monitors button does nothing.

Hi.

Please try the kernel here and see if that changes anything:

http://193.239.210.15/~johan/efikamx/li ... _armel.deb

With this kernel, also try the options "siihdmi.seventwenty=0" and "siihdmi.teneighty=0" to your boot.script

Johan.
