Hi.

It exists, and it works nicely, but we cannot distribute it (yet).

Adobe has a pretty strict (and expensive) process to get devices approved for Flash. You see, they consider the Arm market fully 'embedded' and not 'Desktop', which means it's not in the same category as x86 desktop systems. It also means we have to go through the certification process per device. We are working on the certification in order to be allowed to distribute it.

Johan.

Hi,

What can we say .... as usual Adobe is pretty ridiculous ...

they could at least give a Beta telling that it's not finished but at least people would see if Flash on Linux/arm can really be achieve.

Let's hope we won't need flash in few years to avoid this. It clearly slows down innovation

Any status updates with the certification? Does it look like happening?

Hi, we will be certifying on the imx53 Efika MX platform, but probably not on the current imx51 based products. Certification is expensive. Our Open Screen license has been sufficient thus far (development, testing, etc.). Please email us if you would like to try the beta release.

You would think with the advent of ARM based devices Adobe would welcome a new set of users into the fold (and the companies that develop products for them), but this as of yet is not the case. Why should an ARM "PC" be treated any differently than an Intel-based PC? With Google and Apple taking the positions they have with respect to HTML5 and Flash in particular, Adobe needs to embrace ARM. Hopefully they will soon.

R&B :)

Breaking news:

Adobe ceases development on mobile browser Flash, refocuses efforts on HTML5

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/perlow/exclus ... ated/19226

This means we'll never see an official Flash player for ARM.

Maybe Genesi was right from the start not to waste unnecessary money on Adobe certification (?) now that this piece of software will be obsoleted.

There's also a movement to get rid of Flash altogether:
