Image

for anyone that is interested I have installed the Efika version of Maverick onto an SD card and configured it to boot strait into Sugar (http://www.sugarlabs.org)

I'm still archiving the image so I don't have a download link yet. but it will be in 2 forms:

1) a dd image of the sd card compressed with xz
2) a boot tar.xz archive and a root tar.xz archive + some instructions on how to partition your card and install the archives onto it. option 2 will be for people that have a smaller than 4GB (or larger than 4GB and want to take advantage of extra space)

I could also just put up an image that runs the stock OS direct from the SD card if anyone thinks that might be useful.

This is just a demo using the sugar packages already inside of ubuntu but if there is more interest I could likely do more work on it.

one of the things I would like to get working is 802.11s mesh support so I can have it talk to OLPC XO-1 machines out of the box (in theory) but I can't do that until we have an efikamx kernel > 2.6.31. I should likely have the archives posted tomorrow.

I'm still in the process of compressing and uploading (compressing 3+GB twice with xz on the smartbook takes a long time and thats not counting the time it will take to upload to my web server).

but I have a page started that you can download from when the uploads are finished here: http://steubentech.com/~talon/Efika-MX/

The plain maverick install running off of the SD card only is ready now too. not sure when I will work on armedslack but I will likely make a new thread about that one if/when it happens.
